The Centre for Contemporary Indian Studies of the University of Colombo organized a half-day workshop on dissertation presentations for the final year undergraduates of the Department of International Relations, who are currently in the process of writing their dissertations related to Contemporary India. The event was held on the 29th of October 2014 at the CCIS Meeting Room.
Prof. Amal Jayawardane of the Department of International Relations, University of Colombo and Ms. K. L. Surangika Jayaratne, a Visiting Lecturer of the same Department extended their expertise as the Resource Persons. Dr. Sandagomi Coperahewa, Actg. Director of the CCIS also participated in the discussion.
Four students presented their dissertations and received extensive feedback from the resource persons to reshape their work. The intention behind organizing a workshop of this nature was to provide an informal forum for the undergraduates to present their work and guide them towards the completion of a good dissertation. The opportunity paved the path for the students to get independent evaluation and to develop their work.
