The Launch of the CCIS New Website was held on the 11th November 2014 at the CCIS premises of the University of Colombo. H. E. Mr. Arindam Bagchi, the Deputy High Commissioner of India graced the event as the Chief Guest. Dr. Kumara Hirimburegama/Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Ms. Esha Srivastava/First Secretary of the Indian High Commission, Deans of the Education and Arts Faculties and Dr. Sandagomi Coperahewa/ Actg. Director of the Centre for Contemporary Indian Studies was among the distinguished gathering.
The Actg. Director warmly welcomed the gathering and invited the Deputy High Commissioner to launch the website. The Secretary of the Centre then briefed about the content of the website. In his address the Deputy High Commissioner expressed his contentment about the impressive website and acknowledged the efforts the Centre has taken to promote India-Sri Lanka relations. The Vice Chancellor in his remarks suggested to add more books which are written in Tamil Language to the CCIS library and congratulated the Centre for achieving its goals within a short period of time.
The gathering made it an opportunity to visit the library of the Centre and to glance at the unique collection of books on Contemporary India.
