Dr. Ananda Gupta and the group performed on the 27th March 2015 at the Launch of the Book One Hundred Years of Gitanjali. Dr. Ananda Gupta was born in UK and was brought up in Delhi and Calcutta. He now resides in UK and is a senior ophthalmic surgeon by profession. Yet his passion lies in Tagore music and research. He studies musical syllabus of Vishwa Bharati and has secured a first class in the Dakshinee faculty of Tagore music. He has performed in variety of countries.
Before leaving to London, Dr. Ananda Gupta made it an opportunity to visit the Centre for Contemporary Indian Studies (CCIS) of the University of Colombo. Dr. Sandagomi Coperahewa, Director/CCIS warmly welcomed him to the Centre and gifted him couple of CCIS publications. Dr. Gupta did not forget to garland the Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s Bust established at the University of Colombo Main Library. He was accompanied by Prof. Upul Ranjith Hewawitanagamage, Head/ Department of Hindi Studies, University of Kelaniya.
