Acting High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Shri Vinod K. Jacob and Dean, Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo, Senior Professor L. Manawadu garlanded the bust of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore at the Main Library, University of Colombo celebrating the 161st Tagore Jayanti on 9th May 2022. The Director, CCIS, Chair Senior Professor Upul Ranjith Hewawitanagamage welcomed the guests on behalf of the CCIS and gave an introduction to the event remembering Gurudev Tagore in both Hindi and Bengali languages. The Founder Director, CCIS, Chair Professor Sandagomi Coperahewa also participated in the event as a guest and presented the collection of Essays, ‘One Hundred Years of Gitanjali’ to His Excellency Shri Vinod K. Jacob. Many Lecturers from the University of Colombo and other writers participated in this event.
