The Educational Consultation Session on Indian Scholarship Opportunities 2026 was successfully
held on 05th March 2026 at the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo, from 9.00
a.m. to 11.00 a.m. The event was jointly organized by the Centre for Contemporary Indian Studies
(CCIS) and the Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of the University of Colombo, in collaboration with
the High Commission of India to Sri Lanka.
The inaugural session was graced by distinguished guests including Mr. Sandeep Chaudhary, First
Secretary (Education) of the High Commission of India to Sri Lanka, and Professor Indika Mahesh
Karunathilake, Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo. Their presence underscored the
importance of strengthening educational cooperation between Sri Lanka and India.
The session also featured addresses by Senior Professor A. A. Azeez, Dean of the Faculty of
Graduate Studies, Professor R. Senathiraja, Director of the Centre for Contemporary Indian
Studies, and the Director of the Career Guidance Unit D.L.P.M Rathnasingha. They emphasized
the growing importance of international academic exposure and encouraged students to take full
advantage of the diverse scholarship opportunities offered by India.
The event attracted a large audience, including students and academic staff of the University of
Colombo. Participants were provided with comprehensive insights into various Indian scholarship
schemes, application procedures, eligibility criteria, and academic prospects available in India.
